When you feel out of control…
People talk about the nervous system ALL. THE. TIME. these days, but I find few people actually know what they are talking about… or how it all works.
In short, your nervous system is your brain-body connection.
Specifically, nervous system regulation is the ability (or lack of) to lead your brain-body connection to safety.
You see, we used to get chased by bears. And we needed to run, or be so still they couldn’t see us behind a tree, or even in rare cases.. fight the bear.
The difference now is that you don’t usually have a bear chasing you.
You have deadlines at work.
You have a boss with zero emotional intelligence.
You have coworkers that refuse to do their work.
But your body and brain don’t know the difference.
So it freaks out.
Stress creates a physical response and you find yourself frozen, fighting, or running…
My guess is you’ve experienced it at least once this week.
